CBRE

(by Peter Bohenek, President)

With more than 300 offices in 50 countries, CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) is the global leader in real estate services. Each year, the company completes thousands of successful assignments - with clients from the gamut of industries. This volume creates market knowledge that allows CBRE to seize opportunities and speedup the business process, creating the most thorough, precisely accurate picture of global commercial real estate conditions and trends.

The Construction Services division supports the commercial real estate leasing and acquisition aspect of CBRE. The division’s primary function is to help large clients manage the process of building out space – making it “occupant ready”. Basically, they assist with the leasing process and directly oversee the planning and development of client real estate locations. For large clients like Starbucks, this could mean managing and supervising the build out of several new store locations all at the same time.

Construction Services is very serious in their approach to managing projects, as missing deadlines often results in lost revenue for their clients. This is not something they can allow to happen. To help ensure success, they developed specialized software called Project Insight (PI). PI was specifically created to facilitate and manage the communication process between key players involved in the construction process, both on the client and CBRE sides of the equation.

Project Insight is a Software as a Service (SAS) model that allows all project participants (with an Internet connection) the ability to log into the software at any time from anywhere. Once logged in, project status can easily be checked, work updates reviewed, approvals given and feedback can flow to and from all project personnel. What makes Project Insight truly unique is that it incorporates other software titles that are already used by key executives such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. This makes it easy for users to immediately start using Project Insight and reap the many benefits that the software offers.

CBRE felt Project Insight was a true differentiator and wanted to develop a way to showcase the software to prospective clients. CBRE wanted a presentation tool that would deliver impact; one that would hold viewer attention, speak to the depth of CBRE’s capabilities and emphasize key user roles. CBRE was aware of Rhythm Interactive’s capabilities and hired us to develop a tool that would be used in the sales process. After discussing the business needs for the tool, we all agreed a solid video presentation would be developed highlighting four key user roles. Each role would be viewer-activated and tell the story of a user’s specific interaction with PI and how they benefited from that interaction. To develop this interactive video tool Rhythm Interactive provided the following services:

  • Planning and Discovery
  • Strategic Planning
  • Project Scheduling
  • Script Writing
  • Video Storyboarding
  • Casting Selection
  • Video Studio, Camera and Lighting
  • Make-up and Wardrobe
  • On-set Directing
  • Post Production
  • Web Optimization
  • Website Interface Preparation
  • Upload and Testing of Final Project Deliverable

The project was performed on a tight timeline and ultimately completed over an eight-week period just in time for CBRE to showcase the new tool at a Construction Services sales kick off meeting. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and the product was is now actively being used to sell CBRE’s superior ability to manage client construction projects.
