Online Application Development

(by Peter Bohenek, President)

Online applications vary in terms of definition and design. They range in function from detailed content management systems, to social websites (MySpace), to specialized account services like a banking or stock trading website. Regardless of the intended function Rhythm Interactive has the expertise and experience necessary to design and develop your online application.

Our strength is taking the time to understand the client’s concept and then working with that client to produce the functional requirements and specifications of the project. This level of care from the onset of a project helps to ensure a final outcome that exceeds client expectations in terms of desired functionality, meeting time lines and staying within budget.

Listed below are three of our most recent online application projects. They are as follows:

woodindustryed.org

WoodIndustryEd.org was designed and developed to facilitate and promote interest in careers in the wood manufacturing industries and to be an ongoing resource of helpful industry information. The site is powered by a searchable database system that provides viewers with an easy means of finding woodworking schools, training centers and companies that offer a wealth of education and skill enhancement programs–from short courses to graduate degrees, from hand-crafted to high tech–to serve viewers’ needs. This site includes functions that enable schoolteachers and college professors an easy means to create an account and add listings to the database. When an addition is made it is held for administrative review. Upon review and approval it is then posted to the site.

ctvisit.com

CTvisit is Connecticut’s primary support site for tourism promotion and marketing. The site is rich with content that needs to be frequently updated. Connecticut came to Rhythm with a desire to develop a Content Management Application that would enable Connecticut staff members to easily update all sections of the website. The system was built with various administrative levels of access. This approach included a queuing system where updates could be made and then temporarily suspended until the entries could be reviewed and approved. This functionality created value, as site viewers gained access to frequently updated content that was accurate and resourceful. It also helped reduce CT’s administrative costs, as updates could easily be made by staff members rather than outsourcing the work to third party vendors.

US Forest (currently in development)

We were hired by the US Forest service to create an educational application that would support education within the Woodworking Industry. The site offers viewers the opportunity to create a profile about themselves in terms of their career and desired training courses they would like to take to improve their skill sets. Once a training profile is created the site automatically matches up training courses to profiles based on a sophisticated algorithm. The matches are then emailed each week to viewers who can log into the site to see details, save courses and communicate with training providers. The site also features a login system for training providers. Providers can login to add courses, update their courses and understand how many views their listings experienced. This site is set to launch in early December.

Each of these sites is a good example of our ability to design and develop sophisticated online applications. The feature sets and the functions were custom developed based on client/project specifications that were defined during the planning process.

Our staff is highly skilled and experienced, offering the necessary support to build, test and deliver online applications. We offer service that begins with project conceptualization and moves to planning, development, testing and hosting of complex online applications.
