Media Planning and Buying Services

(by Peter Bohenek, President)

The world of the Internet is growing more complex each day as new and innovative technologies, modes of communication and advertising options are constantly being developed and introduced. In terms of online media buying, more knowledge is required as launching a successful online advertising campaign is also growing and becoming more challenging. Additionally, unlike traditional advertising, which has more standards and more consistent advertising opportunities, Interactive campaigns require a solid media plan before creative or any other processes can take place.

Rhythm Interactive Offers Media Planning and Buying Services

We have a staff of experienced professionals who work with you to develop a media strategy, conduct media research, create a media plan and ultimately launch and optimize your online ad campaign.

Online advertising and methods of targeting we typically consider include:

  • Text Ads
  • Email Newsletters, Classified Ads and Sponsorships
  • Display Ads
  • Keyword Ads
  • Contextual Ads
  • On-Site Sponsorships
  • Behaviorally-Targeted Ads (Ads displayed by user behavior)
  • Advertorial (Paid-For Editorial)
  • Advertisements in Downloads (”Adware”)
  • Rich Media Advertising (Flash ads, interstitials, streaming audio/video and more)
  • Regional (Geo-Targeted) Advertising (Directly target your city, state, or region)

We are a full service Interactive company that employs a detailed media planning and buying process.

Planning Phase:

Discovery - Our online media planning process begins with Discovery. In this phase we work to understand our client’s campaign objectives, metrics they’re trying to accomplish, and any restrictions or targeting we should be imposing.

Strategy - Based on our findings from Discovery, we will develop media buying concepts to guide our media research. Once we have client approval of our concepts and which ones to pursue, we develop a strategy for how to conduct our online media research and planning.

Online Media Research – Typically we balance a plan with buys that combine ad networks, web portals, content sites and niche audience sites. In order to find the sites most appropriate for the client’s audience and objectives, we typically have to conduct media research for some portion of the plan.

Media Negotiations - Once we have secured a site’s pricing and placement opportunities, we move into negotiation mode to ensure we’re getting the best placements and pricing for our clients.

Presenting the Online Media Plan - After the negotiation step, we formulate our Online Media Plan, which includes information about the site/network, its audience, any targeting imposed, placement sizes/ad opportunities, impressions purchased, and projected visitor counts.

Execution Phase

Securing the Buy - Once we have approval of our Online Media Plan, we secure the buy for the client with the network or site publisher.

Creative Ad Development – Rhythm’s design department will develop ads based on the ad specifications. Upon approval of the creative we will deploy the campaign.

Ad Trafficking & Tracking – After ad approval we will work to make the ads available to publishers through direct means or through ad serving systems.

Campaign Optimization – We will manually review the ad campaign and apply any necessary optimization including shifting ad impression and swapping out ad creative as needed.

Reporting & Analysis – Rhythm Interactive provides detailed reporting that is reviewed with the client. During the review meetings, strategies, results and new action items are discussed and planned.

Overall Rhythm Interactive offers a detailed approach to media buying. Our methodology provides a well thought out strategy based on solid research and planning. The strategy evolves and is borne through the creative, which is then leveraged to achieve the desired campaign objectives.
