Charles R. Drew University

(by Peter Bohenek, President)

The Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is a fully accredited medical university located in Los Angeles. Drew initially contacted Rhythm Interactive (RI) to assist with the development of an online Alumni Center.

The Alumni Center was created to promote alumni relations and facilitate online donations. The center contains online membership forms that enable alumni to join the Association and immediately interact with fellow alumni through the online message board system. Also available to members is an alumni directory, a news and events section, and an online donation interface.

Upon the completion of the alumni project, Drew contracted RI for the development of their printed monthly alumni newsletter. RI designed the newsletter format and facilitated the monthly printing and fulfillment of the publication. The newsletter has been a success in terms of keeping alumni informed and actively promoting the online Alumni Center.

With the success of the alumni website and the printed newsletter, Drew hired RI to redesign two sections of the university’s website: the Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) and the Drew/UCLA/RAND Project EXPORT. RI worked with the research department to understand the intended role of each site and what information would remain and what information would be added. We then worked with university personnel to develop and design the site based on those needs. The end result was two (2) websites that help support the university’s research department.
