Understanding The Graphic & Print Design Process

(by Peter Bohenek, President)

Graphic design is the process and art of combining text and graphics for the purpose of effectively communicating marketing messages. This can come in many forms such as logos, brochures, newsletters, posters, signs, and any other type of visual communication.

At Rhythm Interactive we have perfected a process to ensure top quality results for print design projects as follows:

Step 1: Clarify the Goals of Your Organization. We work with your organization to determine how the project is related to your company’s overall goals and objectives.

Step 2: Determine Audience, Tone, Positioning and Messaging. We work closely with you to define the project in terms of its specific goals, messaging and the target audience we are trying to reach.

Step 3: Analyze Data and Review to Compose a Strategy. Once this information is gathered, a clear strategy is developed along with tactics to achieve the goals.

Step 4: Confirm Budget and Schedule. Now that the clear purpose of the project is identified, we work to determine all the design variables, clarify the costs involved and set up a project timeline.

Step 5: Design Development. At this stage we create several design concepts based on the parameters of the strategy and tactics that were developed in step 3.

Step 6: Finalize Design Development. Upon the completion of step 5, we present the design concepts for final selection. Once the final concept is selected, we develop that concept to a final finished format that will be submitted for client approval.

Step 7: Produce the Document for Printing. When final approval is obtained, the final artwork, preliminary proof, and files are delivered to press.

Step 8: Review a Physical Proof. A physical proof, either a matchprint, color key or digital printed proof, is inspected by us and then delivered to the client for final approval.

Step 9: Press Check. To ensure absolute quality and accuracy, we conduct a physical press check at the time of printing.

Step 10: Delivery. The final step in the process is the delivery of the printed pieces to the desired client destination.

The print design process that is followed at Rhythm Interactive is comprehensive and carefully followed during each client’s print project. Our goal is quality, accuracy and effectiveness in results. We work hard to make sure that your project is a complete success from start to finish. We look forward to working on your next print project!
