What Can RSS Do For You?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (Rich Site Summary is a less popular term). Over the past two years, RSS has become an extremely popular format for communicating news over the Internet. The technology is a lightweight XML format designed for listing headlines and content. It’s a method for distributing news for your organization beyond your website. You deliver the content in an XML text format, and a user subscribes to the RSS feed via a reader that supports the technology. Since the format is text, graphics are not delivered, and the user has control over the formatting of the text. In the world of RSS, content is king. Graphics cannot aid in the communication process, so the content delivered must be engaging and worthwhile for the user to read.
